YMCA Youth Programs foster positive relationships and nurture development. Access dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, karate, and more at the Y. Offerings vary based on branch and season, so be sure to check the schedule to see our current and upcoming classes.

Ocean Club-Shelby Branch

Join our exciting and educational 5-week program about the ocean. Each week, each child will participate in a fun experiment and learn something new.

Dance

Dance classes at the Y are a wonderful experience for kids. They include ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, creative movement, and our Chance to Dance classes for those with special needs.

Ages:3-17

Winter Registration: December 23, 2024 - January 15, 2025

Winter Program Duration: 12-week session beginning January 16, 2025

Shelby Branch Dance Program 2024-2025:

Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Combo Classes

Ages: 3-18

Registration: August 29-October 7, 2024

All registrations are In-House Only at the Shelby Branch (for returning & new dancers).
Returning dancers must register with a $10 deposit.
New dancers must register for classes and will be put on an interest list.
Class days, times, and pricing will be given at a later date.
All dance classes will have a Spring Recital.

Gymnastics/Tumbling

Gymnastics is a complex competition involving the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, and control. The YMCA of North Central Ohio gymnastics and tumbling programs embrace the Y's mission by creating a safe, nurturing environment for kids to become strong, confident gymnasts.

Y Go Ninja-Mansfield Branch

Calling all young ninjas! Y Go Ninja! is an exciting, high-energy class designed to build strength, agility, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment. Kids will develop coordination, balance, and teamwork through ninja tricking and gymnastics inspired by parkour and martial arts. Includes shirt, headband, and wristband.

Karate-Mansfield Branch

Karate contributes to increased physical strength, flexibility, balance, control, discipline, and spirituality. Students train at their own skill level, progressing from basic stances, punches, blocks, and kicks to the study of more advanced patterns of movement and defense objectives.

2025 Program Session Dates

Are meals provided?

Yes. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. We do not allow outside food unless there is a medical reason.
Does Child Care ever close? What about weather?

Our sites close based on the YMCA closure schedule and two professional development days each year. WMFD.com and the ProCare app will alert you of all closures.
What does the Step Up To Quality star rating mean?

Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. SUTQ recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed preschool licensing and school age child care licensing health and safety regulations. Step Up To Quality program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.
Are the Child Care providers certified?

Yes, all employees have a thorough background check, CPR, first aid, communicable disease training, child abuse training, and many more continuing education courses.
Is there a discount if we have two children in your program?

YES,
Is there a curriculum?

Yes, our staff gets planning time similar to a school system. Each classroom has lesson plans each day to enhance social, emotional, and educational learning.
